Welcome to Swan Hill

ABC News - Mildura & Swan Hill

Swan Hill is located on the Murray River in the North West of Victoria. It's the heart of the Murray Valley - one of Australia's most diverse and productive rural areas.

There is plenty to do and visit in Swan Hill. The major attraction for tourists is the Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement where you can have fun and learn at the same time.

Swan Hill was named by Major Thomas Mitchell who was the first European explorer in 1836. He spent a sleepless night camped on a rise near a flock of noisy swans.

There are other historical attractions, first class golf courses across the region, plus all the fantastic offerings of the food and wine produced in the region.

The Murray River and the beautiful lakes district of Lake Boga are perfect for camping, fishing, water sports, or a relaxing house boat holiday.
